Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh reiterated the government’s top priority of ensuring the protection, safety, and peaceful coexistence of all communities in the state. With 36 communities, including tribal and non-tribal populations, residing in Manipur, the government is focused on maintaining harmony. Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt General Vikas Lakhera, recently met with the Chief Minister to discuss law and order and security in the state.
Singh, in a Facebook post following the meeting, expressed satisfaction at the improved overall situation in Manipur due to collaborative efforts between the government and security agencies. He highlighted that safeguarding all communities’ safety and peaceful coexistence remains a key focus, with measures already in place to enhance stability and security. The government is committed to upholding peace, harmony, and the well-being of every citizen.
The Chief Minister underscored the government’s dedication to peace and harmony while ensuring citizen well-being. Lt Gen Lakhera’s visit to Manipur included a review of operational readiness and troop welfare at the Keithelmanbi Garrison. He commended the Assam Rifles for their professionalism, honored brave personnel, and engaged with sports teams, showcasing a strong commitment to regional peace.
Thousands of people, including women, participated in protest rallies across Imphal, condemning the recent bomb attack in Bishnupur district that tragically claimed the lives of two children. The Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a sit-in protest, demanding justice for the victims and criticizing the state government for perceived law and order failures. Protest demonstrations, sparked by the April 7 incident, have been reported in various parts of Manipur.
