Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh stressed the importance of unity among all communities in the state for its advancement. He highlighted the historical significance of collective sacrifices made by Manipur’s 36 communities in preserving the state’s identity and territorial integrity. Speaking at the inauguration of a Girls’ Hostel in Tengnoupal district, he urged the people to uphold the legacy created by their ancestors and emphasized that progress can only be achieved through unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
Referring to the diverse communities in the region, the Chief Minister drew parallels with Singapore, emphasizing the need for transcending community divisions to foster development through a shared identity and common purpose. He called for lasting peace, stating that violence is not a solution to any issue and encouraged dialogue and understanding to resolve differences. Khemchand Singh highlighted the economic impact of the crisis on the state and urged all stakeholders to support the ongoing peace process for the benefit of future generations.
Announcing the upgrade of a Blind School to accommodate visually impaired students up to Class X, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the process for seamless education continuity. The event also showcased cultural performances by various tribal communities and presentations by students of the Mission Blind School. Organizers and local representatives submitted memoranda to address developmental issues, with the Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal and other dignitaries in attendance.
