Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh recently opened the state police museum at the 1st Manipur Rifles (MR) complex. During the inauguration, he was shown antique weapons from the Second World War and old photographs of the Manipur Police. The museum also features VHF radio transceivers used by the police in the late 1990s.
Singh also visited the Manipur Police Headquarters at Mantripukhri and unveiled a crèche room on the ground floor. He explored various rooms and facilities at the headquarters, including the DGP’s office on the first floor. Additionally, he held a meeting with senior police officials in the conference room.
The Chief Minister inspected different facilities on the fifth floor of the Police Headquarters, such as a gymnasium, auditorium hall, conference room Block‑B, aerobic and yoga room, and the officers’ lounge. He emphasized that the modern police complex would enhance administrative efficiency, security coordination, and policing operations in Manipur. Singh reiterated the government’s dedication to bolstering the Manipur Police Department.
Singh expressed pride in the museum’s role in preserving the history, legacy, and evolution of the Manipur Police through rare artefacts, historical records, photographs, and uniforms. He highlighted the museum as a significant step in safeguarding policing heritage for future generations. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the Manipur Police Department with the necessary infrastructure and resources to effectively serve and protect the people.
