Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to review the progress of National Highway projects and the state’s road infrastructure development. Singh updated Gadkari on steps taken to address issues related to key highways connecting Manipur with Assam and Nagaland. He also sought swift approval for an elevated highway project in Manipur to enhance urban mobility and connectivity within the state.
Singh highlighted progress on the Imphal–Jiribam and Imphal–Dimapur highways, stating that land compensation matters and issues in Kangpokpi district have been resolved. He informed Gadkari about a special package approved by the state Cabinet to facilitate project advancement. Despite ongoing land-related challenges on the Imphal–Ukhrul–Jessami highway, Singh assured active engagement with stakeholders for timely resolution and smooth project implementation.
In a Facebook post following the meeting, Singh expressed gratitude for Gadkari’s support towards Manipur’s road infrastructure development. The discussions hold significance as the state government emphasizes improved road connectivity and timely execution of infrastructure projects to enhance economic growth and transportation efficiency.
