Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh announced the arrest of four suspected individuals linked to the kidnapping of six Naga civilians. Security forces have taken action, and intensive search operations are ongoing to locate the abducted individuals. The government is fully committed to resolving the situation and ensuring the safe return of the hostages.
Singh mentioned that coordinated efforts by the police and security agencies are in progress in various areas to address the incident that occurred on May 13. The authorities are working diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible for the unfortunate events. The Chief Minister expressed solidarity with the public’s concerns and assured swift action to locate the hostages.
During his visit to Makhan Naga Village in Kangpokpi District, Singh interacted with the residents, particularly those affected by ethnic violence and currently residing at the Makhen Baptist Church. Relief materials, including essential food items, were distributed to around 35 individuals seeking shelter in the village. Additionally, discussions were held on accommodating more Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the community hall.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and several MLAs, inspected the village facilities and engaged with local officials to address the needs of the displaced population. Security forces are conducting joint search operations across Kangpokpi, Senapati, and nearby districts to rescue 20 community members still held captive by armed groups. Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining hostages and restore peace in the affected regions.
