Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has appealed to the public to avoid bandhs, blockades, or shutdowns, as these actions harm daily wage earners and the economically vulnerable. Speaking at an event in Imphal West district, he emphasized the need for resolving differences through dialogue rather than disruptive protests. Singh highlighted his commitment to fostering trust among the state’s diverse communities and ensuring peaceful coexistence.
Singh expressed his focus on creating a safe environment for people from different communities to travel without fear. He recounted his visits to Jiribam district, where various communities came together to work towards peace and normalcy. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of mutual understanding and coexistence among different ethnic groups residing in Manipur.
Addressing ongoing challenges, Singh mentioned a recent bomb blast in Bishnupur district that tragically claimed the lives of two children. He assured the construction of a new community hall and a dam in response to local demands. Additionally, he pledged to address infrastructure needs, such as road development and healthcare facilities, in different areas of the state.
Singh commended the resilience of Manipuri society, particularly women vendors at the Ima Keithel market. He acknowledged their hard work and dedication in supporting their families through selling produce and traditional garments. The Chief Minister promised to consider proposals for improving public health centers and other developmental projects put forth by local communities.
