A Manipur Police havildar lost his life during an anti-narcotics operation when a drug trafficker attacked him, leading to his demise. The incident occurred in Thoubal district, where the police team was acting on specific intelligence related to drug trafficking activities. The attacker managed to escape, but the prime suspect has since been apprehended by the police.
The deceased havildar, identified as Suresh Singh, was a member of the Commando Unit (CDO) of the Manipur Rifles. Meanwhile, security forces conducted separate operations resulting in the arrest of six militants from various districts, including Chandel and Imphal East. The militants belonged to different insurgent groups, and a significant cache of arms and ammunition was seized during the operations.
The recovered weapons included AK-series rifles, a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a 9 mm carbine, hand grenades, magazines, and live ammunition of various calibers. Security forces in Manipur have been actively conducting search operations and maintaining checkpoints to prevent the movement of militants and ensure the safety of essential goods transportation. The public has been cautioned against spreading fake news and urged to verify information before sharing it on social media platforms.
