National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee, preparing for the release of his new movie ‘Governor’, revealed that portraying the lead character was demanding due to his lack of background in economics and math skills.
The film centers around RBI Governor, S. Venkitaramanan, who played a crucial role in navigating the economic changes post the New Economic Policy implementation. Bajpayee expressed his attraction to the script during promotional activities, highlighting the unique focus on an RBI Governor’s story.
In an interview, Bajpayee emphasized the significance of the financial sector’s role during a critical period in the country’s history. He praised the script for shedding light on a lesser-explored domain and the impactful decisions made by individuals like the RBI Governor.
Bajpayee acknowledged the challenges of portraying a character from a different educational background. He mentioned the extensive research and effort required to understand the economic terms and historical context of the film, given his non-economics and weak mathematics background.
‘Governor’, scheduled for release on June 12, 2026, is backed by Sunshine Pictures, produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, and directed by Chinmay Mandlekar. The movie features a talented team of writers and music composers, promising an insightful narrative on a pivotal period in India’s economic history.
