As the film “Homebound,” starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, moves closer to the Oscars, renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese expressed being deeply moved by its story. Scorsese, an Executive Producer of the film, highlighted the friendship and search for dignity portrayed in the movie, emphasizing the importance of empathy and human connection in a divided world.

The Academy Awards recently announced that “Homebound” is among the 15 films advancing to the next round of voting in the International Feature Film category. The movie competes with entries from various countries like Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Norway, Palestine, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Tunisia.

Scorsese shared his enthusiasm for the film on Instagram, recalling his involvement in the scriptwriting process over the past three years. He commended the portrayal of joy amidst tragedy in the characters and their families, emphasizing the humanistic approach taken in storytelling rather than a didactic tone.
