Maruti Suzuki India announced the establishment of a Smart Factory Lab at Government Polytechnic College in Lucknow as part of its CSR initiative. The lab aims to provide hands-on training in advanced manufacturing technologies to around 400 diploma students in its first year. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the lab offers practical exposure to modern production systems, helping students bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry demands.
The Smart Factory Lab features cutting-edge laboratories that expose students to industry-relevant technologies such as automation, Industry 4.0, IIoT, pneumatics, energy measurement, and motion control systems. By simulating real-world manufacturing environments, these labs enhance practical learning and technical skills among diploma students, aligning them with industry requirements.
Maruti Suzuki’s initiative focuses on nurturing the right industry mindset among students, boosting employability, enhancing technical competencies, and preparing them to enter the workforce as skilled professionals. The company aims to support the Skill India mission by creating future-ready professionals through experiential learning opportunities that cater to the evolving needs of the manufacturing sector.
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer of Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, emphasized the importance of these smart factory labs in developing a competent workforce aligned with industry demands. In addition to upgrading facilities at government colleges, Maruti Suzuki has established Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) centers to impart advanced manufacturing techniques and soft skills necessary for students to excel in the industry.
