Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced an investment of Rs 35,000 crore to establish a new plant in Khoraj, Gujarat. This plant is projected to have an annual production capacity of 10 lakh vehicles. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel mentioned that this initiative will create job opportunities for more than 12,000 individuals and boost the growth of ancillary units and MSMEs in the region, forming a strong auto manufacturing cluster.
During a ceremony in Gandhinagar, Maruti Suzuki MD Shriyut Hitachi Takeuchi presented the investment letter to the Chief Minister. Patel expressed his satisfaction with the investment, highlighting the significance of this mega car manufacturing facility in Khoraj. He emphasized the role of Gujarat in bolstering India’s manufacturing sector, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision.
The new Maruti Suzuki plant in Gujarat will occupy 1,750 acres of land provided by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). Recently, the company’s board approved a proposal worth Rs 4,960 crore for land acquisition to expand its manufacturing capacity in Gujarat. This expansion aims to increase production capacity at the Khoraj Industrial Estate by up to 1 million units. In 2025, Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever production output of over 22.55 lakh vehicles and exported 3.95 lakh vehicles, marking a growth of more than 21% compared to the previous year.
