A tragic incident in Noida’s Mamura area led to a massive blaze engulfing a four-story building, resulting in the death of two individuals. The deceased include a 22-year-old girl identified as Sneha Srivastava from Bihar and a young man in his late 20s whose identity is yet to be confirmed. The man suffered severe burn injuries covering over 80% of his body, while the girl sustained burns on 40% of her body.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire started around 11 a.m. due to an electric scooter explosion in the building’s basement. The fire quickly spread, consuming the entire structure and nearby vehicles. The police have detained the building owner for questioning to ascertain the presence of adequate fire safety measures.
The inferno, originating on the ground floor, rapidly spread through the residential building, affecting parked vehicles and trapping residents. Despite the efforts of seven fire tenders and the rescue of over 100 individuals using a makeshift bridge, the blaze took more than three hours to be fully controlled. The building housed around 50 rooms where many working professionals resided with their families.
