The 75th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle saw significant involvement at over 8,000 locations nationwide. This event marked Commonwealth Games Day and aimed to build excitement for the upcoming 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad. Leading the celebrations in Ahmedabad were Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, and actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who joined thousands in a display of community engagement and sportsmanship.
In Ahmedabad, the event, themed “A New Icon for a Fitter India – Pedalling to 2030,” featured a 5-kilometre cycling rally, along with Yoga and Zumba sessions at the Sabarmati Riverfront. The occasion transformed the venue into a hub of fitness, culture, and India’s sporting progress. A special exhibition inaugurated by Mandaviya highlighted India’s sports achievements, the growth of sports infrastructure under the Khelo India Mission, and the nation’s evolving sports ecosystem leading up to the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
The event offered various activities like pickleball, box cricket, and volleyball, creating a festive atmosphere for participants of all ages. Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, along with former Commonwealth Games medallists and Olympians, inspired young attendees, emphasizing the importance of fitness and sports in Indian youth culture. Distinguished guests and sports leaders, including Gagan Narang and Adille Sumariwalla, also graced the occasion.
A unique blend of Garba and Yoga, presented by artist Anish Rangrej, added a cultural touch to the event. Wellness consultations by Pawan Kumar from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga promoted holistic fitness and healthy living. Looking ahead to the 2030 Commonwealth Games, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports plans to organize more community-driven initiatives to enhance public engagement and bolster India’s sports landscape.
The nationwide celebrations seek to raise awareness about the Commonwealth Games movement and encourage youth to embrace fitness and active lifestyles as India prepares to host the CWG in 2030. Union Minister Mandaviya emphasized the importance of fitness for national prosperity, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi lauded the enthusiastic response from the people of Ahmedabad, highlighting the growing interest in healthy living and sports participation.
