Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, expressed his support for declaring the cow as a “national animal,” citing it as a potential solution to hate-filled incidents against the minority community. He highlighted the divisive politics surrounding the cow as the primary cause of such incidents. Madani emphasized the need to end mob lynchings, killings, and hate politics associated with the cow.
Madani, through his social media platform, questioned why the government has not taken steps to declare the cow as the national animal. He stressed that the cow holds immense significance for the majority community, not just as sacred but also as a symbol of reverence. Madani urged for an end to the politics of communal divide and hatred, advocating for a permanent resolution to prevent further loss of human lives due to religious politics.
The Jamiat chief criticized the varying standards on beef across different states, pointing out the discrimination faced by minorities in states with significant Muslim populations. He condemned the double standards of certain BJP leaders who have admitted to consuming beef while remaining silent on mob violence in the name of cow protection. Madani proposed that a uniform law should be implemented nationwide to address these issues, suggesting that declaring the cow as the national animal could potentially resolve these conflicts.
