Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati has criticized opposition parties for using provocative tactics to mislead Dalits and the broader Bahujan community for political purposes. She emphasized that the BSP refrains from disruptive actions like road blockades and violence, focusing instead on constitutional and democratic practices. Mayawati, in a social media statement, accused certain political entities of exploiting Dalit issues to further their own agendas.
Mayawati highlighted the BSP’s commitment to social transformation and economic progress through democratic governance and political empowerment. She pointed out the party’s track record of good governance during its terms in power in Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing welfare measures, law and order, and development-oriented policies. The BSP leader stressed that the party prioritizes the interests of marginalized communities over opportunistic politics.
The BSP chief expressed concerns over attempts by rival political forces to divide and mislead the Bahujan community, especially as the party’s support base expands ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She cautioned against falling prey to divisive tactics and urged vigilance among the people. Mayawati also emphasized the importance of protecting the youth and marginalized groups from legal repercussions during protests, highlighting the potential negative impact on their future and families.
Referring to the Saharanpur violence case, Mayawati recalled the BSP’s advocacy for Dalit rights from grassroots activism to parliamentary debates. She mentioned her resignation from the Rajya Sabha as a form of protest against the inadequate response to the issue, reaffirming the party’s commitment to constitutional and democratic norms. Mayawati reiterated the BSP’s founding mission of empowering the Bahujan community for social justice, aligning with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of political power as a catalyst for social change.
