CPI-M’s Md Salim expressed solidarity with detained Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, urging the strengthening of anti-BJP forces in India. While criticizing Congress, Salim acknowledged their leadership in uniting against BJP. He highlighted the absence of Congress during a sit-in protest in Delhi but praised Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi’s recent actions.
Salim emphasized the need for unity among all political forces opposing BJP, citing CPIM’s support during the Delhi protest. He underscored the importance of standing together against the ruling party. In Kolkata, a rally organized by CPIM’s youth wing, DYFI, addressed issues of corruption and hawker evictions, with Md Salim as the main speaker.
During the rally, Salim condemned BJP’s use of power, likening it to a show of force. He criticized Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, accusing BJP ministers of acting as brokers. Salim called for unity in fighting against injustices, pointing out the lack of opportunities for the new generation in various sectors.
Salim denounced the lathi charge by Delhi Police on protesting students, alleging misuse of power against peaceful demonstrators. He criticized the police for targeting law-abiding citizens and labeled them as serving the ruling party’s interests.
