Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma participated in the “Our Magnificent Vision 2032 | Meghalaya” event at the Police Reserve Parade Ground in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills district. The event, held to mark eight years of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, showcased various state development projects like the Green Meghalaya initiative and the FOCUS+ scheme. Sangma, addressing the audience, emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving set goals despite governance challenges.
The Chief Minister expressed dedication to fulfilling the diverse aspirations of the populace through government efforts. He appreciated the Union government’s support in executing various state development schemes. Sangma also conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message on Meghalaya Day, lauding the state’s developmental pace.
Highlighting Meghalaya’s economic growth, Sangma took pride in the state’s recognition as the second-fastest-growing economy in India. He outlined the vision of establishing a 10-billion-dollar economy in the future, emphasizing the importance of inclusive and balanced development for all citizens. Infrastructure expansion, coupled with livelihood projects like FOCUS+, Green Meghalaya, and PRIME, was stressed for enhancing living standards.
Sangma underscored community involvement in initiatives like Green Meghalaya, promoting forest conservation through incentives. Local MLA and Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, M. N. Marak, noted the progress in various sectors in East Garo Hills district, including health, education, and connectivity. He mentioned the addition of 1,608 beneficiaries under the FOCUS+ program and the distribution of Rs 2.80 crore in cheques during the event.
Marak highlighted the connectivity of over 5.40 lakh households under the Jal Jeevan Mission, aiming for full functionality of all connections. The event included beneficiary interactions and financial aid distribution under the Green Meghalaya initiative, encouraging community-led forest preservation through incentives.
