Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma discussed the significant changes happening within the North Eastern Council (NEC). The NEC is shifting from being primarily a funding agency to a policy-oriented institution that influences the development agenda of the entire Northeast region.
During the 73rd Plenary Session of the NEC in Shillong, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, governors, chief ministers from all eight northeastern states, senior officials from the Centre and state governments, and representatives from various ministries participated.
Sangma emphasized the session’s productivity, focusing on discussions about regional development priorities and collaborative strategies to boost growth in the Northeast.
