Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized the significance of ongoing infrastructure projects in the New Shillong Township for the state’s future development. He highlighted that investments in modern administrative, commercial, and sports infrastructure would not only enhance governance but also create job opportunities and improve the overall quality of life for the residents. Sangma urged all agencies involved to maintain high-quality standards and ensure timely completion without compromising safety protocols.

Inspecting various key projects in New Shillong, including the New Secretariat Complex, Unity Mall, and the Sports Complex at Umsawli, Sangma stressed the importance of these initiatives in fulfilling the government’s long-term vision for modern public infrastructure. He underlined that these projects are laying the groundwork for Meghalaya’s future growth by supporting its administrative and economic requirements.

During the review, Sangma reiterated the government’s commitment to completing the projects within the specified timelines while upholding superior construction standards. He highlighted that the New Secretariat Complex would enhance coordination among government departments, improve administrative efficiency, and enhance citizen-centric service delivery once operational. Additionally, Sangma noted that the Unity Mall project aims to provide a platform for local artisans, entrepreneurs, and producers to showcase Meghalaya’s products, thereby boosting local enterprises and tourism.

At the Sports Complex in Umsawli, Sangma reaffirmed the government’s dedication to developing top-notch sports infrastructure to nurture young sporting talent and position Meghalaya as a prominent sports destination in the Northeast. He emphasized the importance of these modern training and competition facilities in fostering a culture of sports excellence in the state.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure the timely completion of transformative projects to provide citizens with efficient, sustainable, and modern infrastructure at the earliest convenience.
