Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma strongly denounced the alleged racial abuse of three women from Arunachal Pradesh in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, calling it “deeply unfortunate” and “completely unacceptable.” Sangma expressed concern for the safety and dignity of Northeast residents in other parts of India, urging for increased sensitivity and accountability. He described the incident in Malviya Nagar as unacceptable in today’s society, emphasizing the disturbing language, words, and behavior displayed.

Sangma highlighted the need for collective efforts to prevent such incidents from recurring, ensuring all citizens feel safe and respected regardless of their location. He urged authorities to take the matter seriously and enforce appropriate legal action against the perpetrators. The Chief Minister stressed that racial abuse goes against India’s unity, inclusiveness, and diversity, noting the significant contributions of Northeastern people to the nation’s social, cultural, and economic fabric.

The incident in Malviya Nagar has sparked widespread condemnation in the Northeast, with calls for strict action against the accused and enhanced measures to combat racial discrimination. Sangma reiterated his support for the victims, emphasizing the importance of state and central governments collaborating to deliver justice and prevent future occurrences.
