Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma stressed the importance of continuous administrative reforms driven by small but meaningful changes to enhance public welfare. He highlighted the need for efficient and citizen-centric public service delivery during the National Conference on NEXTGEN Administrative and E-Governance Reforms in Shillong. Sangma encouraged governments to embrace innovation and technology as tools for better governance while keeping citizens at the core of decision-making processes.
Sangma mentioned Meghalaya’s CM Connect initiative, which integrates technology with direct government-citizen interactions to address complaints effectively. This approach enhances accountability and responsiveness in governance, emphasizing the significance of feedback from frontline officials and government employees in improving service delivery. The Chief Minister underscored the goal of serving the public and making a positive impact on their lives through dedicated administrative efforts.
Governance reforms in Meghalaya, as highlighted by Sangma, involve collaborative efforts such as the Cabinet Retreat where departments present their plans and challenges to the Council of Ministers. He emphasized the necessity of a positive mindset among administrators committed to public welfare, stating that governance improvements require both technology and a proactive approach. Sangma urged participants at the conference to share experiences, learn from successes and failures, and inspire each other to enhance governance systems nationwide.
The two-day National Conference on NEXTGEN Administrative and E-Governance Reforms, organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances in partnership with the Meghalaya government, aims to promote next-generation administrative reforms, digital governance, and the exchange of best practices among states.
