Fourth seeds Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai advanced to the final with a convincing straight-sets victory, while seventh seeds Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic fought through a tense three-set match to secure their spot in the Grand Slam final. Mertens and Zhang defeated Ena Shibahara and Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 in under 90 minutes, setting up their second major final appearance after Wimbledon 2022.

Mertens praised their teamwork, communication, and overall performance, expressing excitement for the upcoming final. The duo had faced challenges earlier in the tournament but managed to overcome them, showcasing their determination and resilience on the court. Against Shibahara and Zvonareva, Mertens and Zhang took an early lead and maintained control throughout the match, securing their victory with a strong finish.

Danilina and Krunic, on the other hand, battled their way to the final with a hard-fought win over Dabrowski and Stefani in a match filled with ups and downs. The seventh seeds, who had previously defeated top seeds Siniakova and Townsend, displayed grit and composure to secure their place in the championship match. Despite facing setbacks during the match, Danilina and Krunic stayed focused and eventually emerged victorious after a dramatic final set.

Both pairs, having experienced disappointment in major finals before, are now set to face off in what promises to be an intense and captivating women’s doubles final in Melbourne.
