Meta has acknowledged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s video on Facebook was mistakenly taken down but has now been reinstated. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) summoned the global heads of Meta and Instagram following the brief removal of the content. The video, released on July 23, featured PM Modi’s first address to Gen Z during a student protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

Moreover, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) called upon the Global Head of Meta and Instagram regarding the temporary blocking of PM Modi’s video on Facebook. In the video, PM Modi mentioned that stricter measures against paper leaks would be announced during an upcoming Cabinet meeting. The video had amassed millions of views before it was temporarily restricted on Facebook on July 28.

Reports suggest that Facebook initially limited access to the video in response to what seemed to be a legal request. However, Meta clarified that the removal was an error and has since restored the content. Earlier in the month, PM Modi’s late-night video addressing exam paper leaks on social media led to a surge of around 1 million followers on Instagram overnight, highlighting the broad reach and public support for his stance on the issue.

Observers attributed the sudden increase in PM Modi’s Instagram followers to his engaging selfie video addressing the paper leaks matter. This surge brought his total followers to nearly 101 million, solidifying his significant digital presence globally. PM Modi is the most-followed politician and world leader worldwide, with more than double the followers of other prominent figures like US President Donald Trump. PM Modi’s video not only connected directly with the public but also showcased a blend of political practicality and governance principles.
