Undeterred by age, E. Sreedharan, known as Metro Man, inaugurated the official office for Kerala’s high-speed rail project in Ponnani, Malappuram. At 93, he remains committed to his role as a master builder, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in such large-scale infrastructure endeavors. Despite the project’s absence in the Union Budget, Sreedharan is confident in securing approval from the Railway Ministry, citing the necessity of determination and a clear vision.
The newly opened office will serve as a public interface to address queries and uncertainties about the project. Starting February 15, a series of meetings will be conducted to explain the technical, financial, and social aspects of the high-speed rail corridor to the public. These outreach programs will commence in Malappuram and extend to other districts along the proposed alignment.
Sreedharan mentioned that his discussions with the Union Railway Minister were fruitful, leading to instructions for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). An official order authorizing the DMRC for this task is anticipated within a few days. He also highlighted his ongoing communication with the Railway Ministry for follow-up procedures, showcasing his dedication to advancing the project.
Age serves as a reminder for Sreedharan to continue his meaningful contributions without hindrance, reflecting his unwavering dedication to his lifelong profession and the pursuit of excellence in infrastructure development.
