Traditional Indian sweets hold a special place in households during festive times like Holi and Diwali. This year, the talk of the town in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district is the ‘Millet Malpua’. Residents are flocking to order this unique dessert, thanks to entrepreneur Priyanka’s innovative recipe.
Priyanka, a beneficiary of the PMFME scheme, introduced ‘Millet Malpua’ to offer a healthy alternative to the adulterated festive sweets. Her venture, supported by a loan under the scheme, has gained immense popularity, earning her the title of the ‘millet lady’ of Bhagalpur.
Under the PMFME scheme, Priyanka has expanded her range to include 60 different millet products suitable for all-day consumption. Her offerings like Millet khichdi, kheer, halwa, and idlis have garnered significant market demand.
‘Millet Malpua’ is a nutritious dessert made from jowar, bajra, ragi, and multi-millets, catering even to those with diabetes. This initiative aligns with the PMFME scheme’s objective to promote healthy food choices and support micro food units.
