Minister for Higher Education, M.C. Sudhakar, responded to the alleged incident where a student was reportedly asked to remove his sacred thread before taking the CET exam in Bengaluru. Sudhakar clarified that the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has not been informed of this incident yet.

During a media interaction in Bengaluru, Sudhakar emphasized that if any staff member behaved inappropriately during the exam, strict action would be taken. He mentioned that no official report on the matter has been received by the authorities, but assured that necessary actions would be taken upon confirmation.

Sudhakar highlighted the importance of ethical conduct during exams, comparing it to traffic violations despite awareness campaigns. He expressed concern over the motives behind such incidents, stating that if any wrongdoing is proven, legal actions will be pursued.

The controversy arose when a student was allegedly barred from entering the exam hall for wearing the ‘janeu,’ a sacred thread symbolizing education and spiritual initiation. This incident has reignited discussions on cultural sensitivities and religious practices in Karnataka.
