Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav chaired discussions regarding the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 at the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) meeting. The government’s commitment to enhancing the global and national reach of Yoga for overall health and well-being was emphasized during the meeting. Senior officials from various Ministries, Yoga Gurus, and representatives from Yoga Institutions attended the meeting in New Delhi.

Reflecting on the recent 50-day countdown event for IDY 2026 in Hyderabad, Jadhav noted the increasing public interest and engagement in Yoga. He highlighted that Yoga has transformed into a popular movement advocating a healthy lifestyle beyond mere sessions and mats. Minister Jadhav also acknowledged India’s global leadership in promoting Yoga, with International Day of Yoga celebrations spanning over 190 countries since 2015.

Minister Jadhav stressed the need for a comprehensive approach involving all Ministries and Departments to ensure the success of IDY 2026. Key areas of focus outlined included enhancing participation in the Common Yoga Protocol observance, integrating Yoga into various frameworks such as schools and workplaces, ensuring inclusivity across different populations, utilizing digital platforms for outreach, and ensuring timely implementation and reporting of activities.
