Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju commended the Parsi community for their significant role in national development during a National Seminar on “Parsis in Modern India: Navigating Cultural and Socio-Economic Pathways.” He emphasized the government’s dedication to preserving the community’s heritage, promoting socio-economic welfare, and supporting initiatives to boost the Parsi population.
Rijiju highlighted the government’s initiatives to revive the Avestan language and address the declining Parsi population issue. He assured the Parsi community of their safety in India, emphasizing the country’s rapid growth and path towards self-reliance.
Recognizing the Parsi community’s achievements, Rijiju mentioned the Tata family’s sponsorship of India’s 1920 Olympic teams and the Parsis’ establishment of the first Indian cricket team in the 1880s. He also praised their significant contributions to India’s industrial and economic sectors.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and emphasizing the importance of ‘Sabka Vishwas’ and ‘Sabka Prayas’ in the current term. He welcomed suggestions from the community on the Jiyo Parsi scheme.
