Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, encouraged defence equipment MSMEs and start-ups at the North Tech Symposium in Prayagraj to think creatively to maintain a technological edge and support the defense forces. He praised the success of Operation Sindoor, attributing it to the bravery of the defense forces and the effectiveness of indigenous advanced weapons and systems. MSMEs were hailed as crucial to the Indian economy, with a call to think innovatively to lead in technology.
“Our start-ups and MSMEs are key for future growth and will be instrumental in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. They are the modern-day Vishwakarmas,” he emphasized. The Minister lauded the defense forces for countering threats by dismantling terror hideouts during Operation Sindoor, highlighting the significance of using Made-in-India equipment for self-reliance in defense. Record defense production and exports were cited as evidence of ‘New India’s’ commitment to enhancing national capabilities.
Emphasizing the importance of innovation, the Minister assured full government support, noting the transformative impact of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Command, Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, urged industry collaboration with defense forces to meet operational needs in new domains and contribute to modernizing the Indian Army. He stressed that self-reliance would lead to strategic autonomy and operational readiness.
The North Tech Symposium 2026, organized by Indian Army’s Northern and Central Commands and Society of Indian Defence Manufacturer, focuses on the convergence of technology, industry, and soldiering under the theme ‘Raksha Triveni Sangam.’ The event, inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, showcases cutting-edge defense technology through 284 stalls by private defense manufacturers.
