The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has lifted Ladakhi climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s detention under the National Security Act (NSA). The government aims to promote peace, stability, and trust in Ladakh for constructive dialogues with all parties involved.

Sonam Wangchuk’s detention, imposed by the District Magistrate of Leh after a law and order issue in 2025, has been revoked. The government emphasizes its commitment to safeguarding Ladakh’s interests and engaging with the community for addressing concerns.

Despite challenges like protests affecting various aspects of society, the government is dedicated to creating a peaceful and trusting environment in Ladakh. It hopes to resolve regional issues through dialogue and engagement with stakeholders, including the High-Powered Committee.
