The Ministry of Jal Shakti has sanctioned Rs 537.70 crore in central aid for Rajasthan under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 for the fiscal year 2026‑27. This funding will reimburse the state government’s additional expenses incurred between the completion of the first phase and the start of the second phase of the mission. The assistance aims to expedite rural drinking water projects in the state, supporting the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ objective.
Mission Director Rajan Vishal expressed that the approval signifies a crucial step towards providing safe drinking water to rural households in Rajasthan. The financial backing will speed up the implementation of water supply schemes and enhance rural water infrastructure. The approved amount includes Rs 307.45 crore for General areas, Rs 177.73 crore for Scheduled Castes, and Rs 52.52 crore for Scheduled Tribes.
The total assistance of Rs 537.70 crore will be disbursed as reimbursement for the state’s expenditure on rural water schemes. Rajasthan has made significant strides in executing the Jal Jeevan Mission, with over 2,500 completed schemes set for public dedication through the ‘Jal Arpan’ process. The state has also progressed in certifying villages as ‘Har Ghar Jal’ and ensuring water service assessment across Gram Panchayats and villages.
Requests for the remaining schemes have been forwarded to the National Jal Jeevan Mission, with plans to geo‑tag all assets approved under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. The mission, extended until December 2028, operates as a 50:50 partnership between the Central and State Governments. The Rs 537.70 crore assistance is poised to bolster the mission’s progress in Rajasthan, fortifying water infrastructure and advancing the goal of providing clean drinking water to rural families.
