The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is set to host the second pre-release consultative workshop on revising the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Consumer Price Index (CPI), and Index of Industrial Production (IIP) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The workshop aims to present proposed methodological and structural changes in the ongoing base revision of these economic indicators to gather feedback and comments from participants. The first workshop took place in Mumbai on November 26.
This upcoming workshop will gather a diverse range of participants, including prominent economists, financial experts, banking professionals, subject-matter specialists, and senior officials from both Central and State Governments. The involvement of this varied group is expected to enhance discussions and acquaint users with the modifications in the revised series.
The inaugural session of the workshop will feature NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman K. Bery as the chief guest, accompanied by Chief Economic Advisor V. Anantha Nageswaran, MoSPI Secretary Saurabh Garg, and MoSPI’s Director General of Central Statistics, N.K. Santoshi.
Following the inaugural session, technical sessions on GDP, CPI, and IIP will be conducted, along with open house discussions. Participants will also receive a booklet containing concise concept notes on the proposed changes in the base revision of these economic indicators. The workshop’s objective is to enhance transparency, facilitate informed dialogue, and ensure extensive consultation before the release of the revised series of GDP, CPI, and IIP.
