A 14-year-old girl, a student of Class 8, was drugged, taken to a hotel, and allegedly gang-raped in the Durgapur industrial area of West Burdwan district. The victim’s family reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of three individuals connected to the crime.
The girl was lured out of her house by a woman known to the family, who then made her consume alcohol mixed with some medicine. Subsequently, she was taken to a hotel by three young men, where she was subjected to the assault. The accused later abandoned her on the road.
According to the victim’s father, the girl was initially taken to a hotel in the Durgapur City Centre area, where she was physically abused by the three men. He attributed his daughter’s ordeal to a woman from the Budbud area who enticed her out of the house.
The father recounted that a toto driver found his daughter in a helpless state and informed the family, prompting the father to approach the police. The incident occurred on a Saturday, with the minor being left on the Budbud Bypass while the perpetrators fled in a car. The family lodged a formal complaint at the Durgapur police station.
The police have apprehended three individuals, including a woman believed to be the main perpetrator, in connection with the crime. Additionally, the hotel manager has been taken into custody for questioning. Investigations are ongoing, with efforts to secure evidence and locate the remaining suspects. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at the Durgapur Sub-District Hospital.
