A minor was sexually assaulted by a retired but re-employed doctor at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash District Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The accused, Dr. Shailender Kumar Shally, who previously served as the Principal Medical Officer at the hospital, allegedly raped the victim multiple times in the hospital’s OPD. The victim, who had complained of stomach pain, was admitted to the hospital.
The government has taken action against the accused doctor, terminating his services and dismissing him from his job. Dr. Upendra Singh, who was on emergency duty, mentioned that the minor was initially admitted to the female ward and later shifted to the emergency department due to excessive bleeding. It was during this time that the victim disclosed the sexual assaults she had endured in the OPD.
Following the incident, the victim was examined, counseled, and her statement was recorded under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act at the Kurukshetra University police station. Director General Health Services, Sumita Misra, has promptly ordered the termination of the accused doctor’s services, emphasizing the severity of the case.
The victim’s father reported that the accused doctor sexually assaulted his daughter during a check-up, causing her pain and bleeding. Subsequently, the doctor admitted the girl to the female ward before disappearing from the hospital. Dr. Upendra Singh noted that both the victim girl and her father were hospitalized on May 29, with the father under the care of the accused doctor for separate medical issues.
