Senior religious leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq of Kashmir expressed his unchanged convictions despite being under house arrest. He shared his sentiments on social media, mentioning his inability to address the Friday congregation due to the restrictions. Reflecting on the past year, he highlighted the tragic events of 2025, including the Pahalgam attack and the India–Pakistan conflict.

The Mirwaiz lamented the lack of public space for expression and communication in Kashmir. He noted the challenges faced by socio-political institutions like the Awami Action Committee and Ittihadul Muslimeen. With restrictions on movement and communication, he emphasized the significance of social media as a platform for connecting with the people.

Despite criticism and constraints, the Mirwaiz affirmed his unwavering beliefs and principles. He rejected claims of compromise, citing his longstanding commitment to his convictions. Refusing to yield to security measures, he emphasized that his stance remains steadfast, rooted in his history of resilience and dedication.
