Senior religious leader Mirwaiz Maulana Umar Farooq, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). He specifically mentioned the civilian and police casualties in Rawalakot and Poonch. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq emphasized the need for sensitivity, dialogue, and public confidence in addressing questions related to identity and political rights.
He highlighted the importance of governance based on people’s trust and consent, considering the shared history and ties across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged for dialogue, restraint, and engagement to resolve differences peacefully, emphasizing the sanctity of human rights and life. He called for wisdom and responsibility from all parties involved in the unrest.
The religious leader also appealed for peace and stability for all people in Jammu and Kashmir on both sides of the Line of Control. Meanwhile, the unrest in PoK continued for the 37th consecutive day, with a leader rejecting Pakistan’s narrative on the region and labeling it as an “occupied territory.”
