The Ramat David Air Base in northern Israel was struck by missile fragments during the recent tensions with Iran, as confirmed by the Israeli military. The base sustained minor damage, but flight operations remained unaffected, according to an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) official.
Israeli media reports, referencing satellite images, suggested that the crucial military base had been targeted. The situation escalated following Israeli airstrikes in Beirut, Lebanon, resulting in casualties and sparking retaliatory actions between Iran and Israel. This marked a significant escalation since the ceasefire in April involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
In response to alleged Israeli actions in Lebanon, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles at the Ramat David Air Base. Despite a temporary halt in hostilities between the two nations on Monday, Israel warned of potential strikes on Beirut if its northern regions were attacked, while Iran threatened severe retaliation against any further Israeli aggression in Iran or Lebanon.
Amidst these developments, the Israeli military conducted fresh strikes in southern Lebanon, targeting areas including Tyre and Hezbollah infrastructure sites. The military reported hitting drone launch sites and rocket launchers in the region, leading to civilian evacuations in Tyre due to Israeli warnings. Tragically, strikes in Tyre resulted in casualties, with at least eight people killed and numerous others injured, as reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency.
