Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted that corruption poses a significant challenge to good governance and the state’s development. He stressed the need for a joint commitment from citizens and government officials to eradicate corruption. The Chief Minister commended the release of the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s inaugural Annual Report, emphasizing its role in promoting integrity and accountability among government employees.
Recognizing the importance of robust institutional mechanisms in fighting corruption, the state government has bolstered both the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Mizoram Lokayukta. Lalduhoma expressed confidence in the professional capabilities of these institutions to operate more efficiently. The Annual Report revealed that the ACB in Mizoram received 17 corruption-related complaints in the 2025-2026 period, with six cases registered after preliminary inquiries.
The report also disclosed that over 16 years, from 2010 to 2026, the ACB in Mizoram successfully convicted 112 individuals in 35 corruption cases tried by the Special Court under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Chief Minister’s Conference Hall hosted the event, chaired by ACB Director J. Lalthafamkima, who reiterated the Bureau’s unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on corruption. Vigilance Department Secretary Y.L.N. Reddy and ACB Superintendent of Police Lalbiakkila also spoke at the gathering.
