Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted the state’s conducive environment for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) investments, citing factors like peace, low corruption, high literacy, and the cultural value of tlawmngaihna. He inaugurated the “Mizoram CSR Connect” portal, encouraging corporate and civil society participation in socio-economic initiatives. The portal, developed in collaboration with UNDP India, aims to enhance transparency and coordination between CSR contributors and implementing agencies.
Referring to data showing Mizoram received only 0.06% of India’s total CSR expenditure, the Chief Minister emphasized the pivotal role CSR can play in the state’s development. The establishment of the CSR Cell in the Chief Minister’s Office further underscores the commitment to bolster CSR-related efforts. The launch of the Mizoram CSR Connect portal is seen as a significant step towards facilitating transparent engagement between CSR donors and beneficiaries, ensuring accountability and measurable impact.
Angela Lusigi, Resident Representative of UNDP India, praised the portal’s launch as a noteworthy initiative with both national and global significance. UNDP’s partnership in the project reflects its focus on sustainable development, women’s empowerment, and environmental conservation. Acknowledging Mizoram’s developmental strides, UNDP reiterated its dedication to collaborating with the state, emphasizing the importance of data-driven planning for impactful outcomes and the portal’s role in supporting informed decision-making.
Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Mizoram CSR Cell, T.B.C Lalvenchhunga, highlighted key CSR opportunities in the state, while MoUs were exchanged between the Mizoram Start-Up Mission and corporate partners. The event, graced by Secretary Lalmalsawma Pachuau, emphasized the significance of the portal in streamlining CSR efforts and fostering partnerships for sustainable development.
