Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) highlighted the need for balanced development, particularly focusing on enhancing infrastructure in international and state border regions. During the launch of a Basic Life Support Ambulance (BLSA), he stressed the significance of addressing the challenges faced by residents in border areas who often lack access to essential services. The Governor praised NBCC (India) Ltd. for donating a well-equipped ambulance to Silsury village, marking a crucial step in meeting urgent healthcare requirements in remote border communities.
Highlighting the progress in infrastructure projects, the Governor mentioned that NBCC (India) Ltd. has completed 98 km of the sanctioned 189 km India-Bangladesh border fencing in Mizoram, with the remaining work ongoing in Lawngtlai district. Additionally, he noted the recent handover of 55 km of border fencing and five Border Outposts (BOPs) in the Dampa Tiger Reserve forest area in the Mamit district by the company. The ambulance, serving Silsury village along the India-Bangladesh border in the Mamit Aspirational District, was acquired under NBCC (India) Ltd.’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Appreciating NBCC’s contributions, the Governor encouraged the company to utilize its expertise and advanced technologies to enhance the quality of life in smaller states like Mizoram. He also highlighted the Central government’s focus on Aspirational Districts and urged NBCC to continue prioritizing development in border regions due to their crucial role in infrastructure projects. R. Lalthangliana, MLA of the Dampa Assembly Constituency, welcomed the ambulance’s addition to Silsury village and surrounding areas, expressing gratitude to NBCC (India) Ltd. for the valuable support.
Gyanaranjan Samal, Chief General Manager and Head of the North East Region of NBCC (India), provided insights into the company’s initiatives and accomplishments. Established in 1960, NBCC (India) Ltd. operates as a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, functioning as a Project Management Consultant (PMC) and contributing significantly to the implementation of large-scale infrastructure development projects for the Central government.
