Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) officially launched the houselisting and housing census operations for Census 2027 at Lok Bhavan in Aizawl. He urged all field workers to perform their duties diligently and ensure no household is missed. Emphasizing the need to explain the census process clearly, he aimed for accurate enumeration of every individual and household.
General Singh hailed this as India’s inaugural digital census and expressed confidence in its successful execution. He called for public support and cooperation with census officials and enumerators. H. Lalremruati, designated as Enumerator for Lok Bhavan, completed data entry using the Self Enumeration ID (SE ID) generated during the Governor’s self-enumeration on April 7, 2026.
The Governor finalized his own houselisting and housing census process with this entry. The event was graced by senior officials from the Directorate of Census Operations, including Joseph H. Lalramsanga and Irene Zohlimpuii Chongthu. Census 2027, India’s first digital census, will be conducted in two phases: houselisting and housing census from April 1 to May 15, 2026, and population enumeration in February 2027.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma also completed his self-enumeration for Census 2027 during Phase I at his official residence on April 1. The self-enumeration process was facilitated through an online portal by personnel from various departments, including the Aizawl Municipal Corporation and the General Administration Department.
