Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) highlighted the crucial importance of effective coordination among institutions for national security. He emphasized that relying solely on institutional capacity is insufficient and called for a cohesive and well-coordinated approach. General Singh advocated for a ‘Whole-of-Government’ strategy, emphasizing the need for integrated governance over siloed functioning.
Addressing the Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi, the Governor emphasized the necessity for all levels of government to operate as part of a unified system. He cited the success of coordinated efforts like PM Gati Shakti in improving infrastructure planning through aligning policies, resources, and implementation strategies. General Singh stressed the significance of breaking down institutional silos and fostering a culture of collaboration for effective governance.
The Governor also attended the Youth Festival (Univoyage) 2026, jointly organized by ICFAI University Mizoram and the state’s Tourism Department in Aizawl. He commended the festival as a platform for motivating youth and providing valuable learning opportunities. General Singh underlined the importance of investing in youth development, skill enhancement, and job creation for the nation’s future.
Highlighting the potential of Mizoram’s tourism sector, General Singh mentioned the state’s advantages like pleasant climate and scenic landscapes. He encouraged eco-friendly tourism practices and emphasized the need for a visitor-friendly ecosystem to attract more tourists. The Governor expressed hope that active participation in events like the Youth Festival would bring positive outcomes for Mizoram and its people.
