Mizoram Police apprehended an 18-year-old individual for circulating a false office circular on social media that wrongly declared a public holiday on April 27 due to heavy rainfall. The complaint, received by the Cyber Crime Police Station, highlighted the dissemination of a fabricated document misleadingly announcing the holiday. The forged circular, bearing fake signatures of government officials, caused confusion among the public.

The Cyber Crime Police Station swiftly registered a case under relevant sections of the law and initiated an investigation following the complaint. Within 24 hours, the police successfully traced the origin of the fake post to the accused, Lalramhlua, who was subsequently arrested in Aizawl. Mizoram Police issued a strong warning against the creation and dissemination of fake news or government documents on social media, emphasizing the severe legal consequences such actions entail.

A Crime Review Meeting, presided over by the Director General of Police, Sharad Agarwal, was convened at the Police Headquarters in Aizawl. The meeting, attended by senior police officers from all districts, discussed measures to combat such unlawful activities and reiterated the commitment to take strict action against offenders.
