Mobile internet has been suspended in Balochistan, Pakistan for the fifth consecutive day following coordinated attacks. The authorities have also halted train services in the province. Additional Chief Secretary Hamza Shafqaat mentioned that the decision to shut down mobile internet was due to the deteriorating law and order situation, with services set to resume as the region stabilizes.
Reportedly, mobile data services were briefly restored in some areas but remained disrupted in others like Nushki, Mastung, Khuzdar, Awaran, Kalat, Panjgur, Sibi, and Turbat due to security reasons. Train services between Quetta and other parts of Pakistan, including Jaffar Express and the Bolan Mail, are also suspended until the security situation improves.
Security forces are conducting ‘mop-up actions’ in Nushki and other Balochistan areas post the attacks. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif acknowledged the challenges faced by security forces against Baloch rebels, with a significant number of casualties reported on both sides. Asif emphasized the complexities of controlling Balochistan due to its vast geographical expanse and ongoing militant activities.
