India’s top manganese ore producer, MOIL, has reported its best production performance in the fiscal year 2025-26 (April-December), setting new records for both the third quarter and the first nine months of the current financial year, as per the Ministry of Steel. During the third quarter of FY 2025-26, MOIL achieved a milestone by producing 4.77 lakh tonnes of manganese ore, marking a growth of approximately 3.7% compared to the same period last year.
This achievement represents the highest production ever recorded by the company in any third quarter since its establishment. Additionally, MOIL has also achieved its best-ever nine-month production of 14.21 lakh tonnes, reflecting a growth of about 6.8% when compared to the previous year. The ministry attributes this sustained improvement in production to meticulous mine planning, operational discipline, increased mechanization, and the dedicated efforts of MOIL’s workforce across all operational units.
Furthermore, MOIL concluded November with exceptional operational milestones throughout its value chain. Notably, the Raw Material Handling System (RMHS) achieved record-breaking feats, including the highest wagon tippled in a day at 616 Nos. on November 21, and the highest monthly base mix production of 5,18,886 tonnes. The Sinter Plant NSL also demonstrated significant progress, achieving day and monthly sinter production records, with 15,590 tonnes in a single day on November 30 and 4,14,271 tonnes for the month, operating at over 105% of rated capacity utilization.
The Blast Furnace segment showcased remarkable efficiency with a record hot metal production of 11,315 tonnes on November 28, surpassing 119% of rated capacity utilization, and a monthly production of 2,80,049 tonnes, exceeding 101% capacity utilization. Notably, NSL achieved its lowest-ever monthly average fuel rate of 519 kg per tonne of hot metal by utilizing only Sinter and Ore in burden, along with the highest monthly average PCI rate of 164 kg per tonne of hot metal. Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, expressed that the consistent record-breaking achievements across units reflect the dedication, discipline, and determination of the team.
