More than 51.8 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were delivered on Saturday, with no dry-outs reported at retail distributorships, as per the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Additionally, 5.45 lakh PNG connections have been gasified, and infrastructure for 2.62 lakh more connections has been set up since March.
Online domestic LPG cylinder bookings have surged to 98%, and authentication code-based deliveries to prevent diversion at the distributor level have risen to around 94%. The supply of cooking gas to households remains a priority despite challenges in overall LPG supply due to geopolitical issues.
On Saturday, over 9,131 metric tonnes of commercial LPG were sold, equivalent to more than 4.8 lakh 19 kg cylinders. Enforcement actions against hoarding and black marketing of LPG continue nationwide, with over 2,100 raids conducted recently.
Public sector oil marketing companies are intensifying surprise inspections, penalizing 310 LPG distributorships, and suspending 70 others. Measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products and LPG across the country amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Citizens are urged against panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG, advised to rely on official sources for information, and encouraged to use digital booking platforms for LPG. Refineries are operating at high capacity with ample crude inventories, and local LPG production has been boosted to meet domestic demand.
