The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has partnered with Grassroots Research And Advocacy Movement (GRAAM) to engage two Fellows under the Embark India Development proposal. This initiative aims to utilize the Fellows’ skills for the Ministry’s benefit while offering them practical experience in public policy and governance. The collaborative platform between MoSPI and GRAAM allows motivated individuals to work together, supporting initiatives, developing innovative solutions, and addressing governance challenges.
The Embark India Development Fellowship (EIDF) is a national leadership and capacity-building program aligned with the ‘Viksit Bharat at 2047’ vision. It seeks to embed young professionals, academics, and researchers into government institutions, including MoSPI, to tackle capacity-building, governance, and public policy challenges. The 18-month program includes institutional placements, mentorship, and grassroots data/policy research to enhance skills and provide opportunities for impactful policy solutions.
Fellows participating in the program work on various domains such as public finance, economic growth, public health, and climate action. They receive stipends of up to Rs 65,000 per month and collaborate to create evidence-based policy solutions. Anchored in the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat at 2047’, the program offers rigorous training in development theory, public policy, and governance systems, preparing Fellows to address real-world development policy challenges effectively.
The signing ceremony for this collaboration took place in the presence of senior officials, including PR Meshram, Director General (Data Governance) at MoSPI; Basavaraju R. Shreshta, Executive Director at GRAAM; and Prasoon Verma, Director, Training Unit, Capacity Development Division at MoSPI.
