North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari expressed approval of the Delhi High Court’s decision to start criminal contempt proceedings against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and other top officials. Tiwari emphasized that this action underscores the principle that nobody, regardless of their status or claims of being an ordinary citizen, is exempt from the law or the judiciary’s respect.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma initiated the contempt proceedings, citing objectionable social media posts and public statements made by AAP leaders following her decision not to recuse from a case. Tiwari criticized AAP for engaging in a sustained campaign of falsehoods, edited videos, defamatory letters, and social media attacks against judges, which he deemed as intimidation rather than criticism.
The BJP MP highlighted that those responsible for spreading misinformation, covering up corruption in the Delhi Excise Policy scandal, and operating a mafia-style governance will now face the repercussions of their actions. Tiwari stressed that criminal contempt proceedings signify the commencement of accountability for individuals who believe they can tarnish judges with impunity under the guise of political influence.
The BJP’s stance has consistently supported the Constitution’s sanctity and the judiciary’s independence, according to Tiwari. He urged the people of Delhi to recognize the alleged misconduct of AAP, emphasizing a commitment to transparent, corruption-free governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, where justice prevails for all citizens without exception.
