Launching a strong criticism against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), MP Raghav Chadha accused his former party of engaging in “vindictive politics” and using state resources to target leaders who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Chadha highlighted a shift in AAP’s behavior, stating that they were praised as long as they were aligned but labeled as corrupt upon leaving. He likened AAP’s actions to that of an embittered ex, unable to accept the departure of its members.
Chadha detailed instances of alleged harassment, mentioning that since seven MPs joined the BJP on April 24, 2026, several leaders have faced intimidation tactics. He specifically pointed out the case of former cricketer and MP Harbhajan Singh, citing incidents of slogans, objectionable remarks, stone-pelting, and defamatory graffiti at his residence, allegedly involving the Punjab Police.
Accusing the Punjab government of targeting industrialist Rajinder Gupta, a Padma Shri awardee, Chadha claimed that Gupta’s factory supporting thousands of families faced administrative pressure, including water supply cuts and inspections by the State Pollution Control Board with the aim of closure. He also raised concerns about alleged actions against MP Sandeep Pathak, highlighting the filing of what he termed as “malicious and fabricated” FIRs against him, along with reports hinting at his imminent arrest.
Chadha expressed apprehensions of being the next target, alleging potential fabrication of false cases against him by AAP. He decried efforts to tarnish their reputation through various means, including engaging agencies in Mumbai to spread negativity on social media. Warning against escalating political tensions, Chadha urged a step back from revenge politics, emphasizing the unpredictable consequences it could lead to.
He appealed to Punjab government officials not to yield to political pressures, reminding them of their professionalism and advising against acting against individuals under duress. Chadha concluded by expressing confidence that the people of Punjab would soon reject AAP, foreseeing its removal from the state in the near future.
