Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have won the toss and opted to bowl first against the Chennai Super Kings in Match 33 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma remains sidelined due to injury, with no changes in the Mumbai Indians’ lineup. Chennai Super Kings have made one change, with Prashant Veer replacing Matthew Short.

The clash between the two five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, has garnered more attention following Mumbai’s recent victory over the Gujarat Titans, ending a four-match losing streak. Led by Hardik Pandya, Mumbai has secured two wins out of six matches so far.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also stand with two wins and four losses in six games. After a shaky start with three consecutive defeats, they bounced back with two consecutive wins before stumbling in their last match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, losing by 10 runs.

After winning the toss, MI Skipper Hardik Pandya expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining intensity and enjoying the game. He highlighted the pitch conditions and expressed confidence in their ability to chase the target set by CSK.

Chennai Super Kings’ captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, after losing the toss, acknowledged the challenge of playing at the Wankhede Stadium and stressed the need for his team to capitalize on crucial moments to secure a win. He expressed gratitude to former captain MS Dhoni for his influence and support, aiming to make the fans proud with a strong performance.
